The day I met Frida

Do you know I’ve never seen my face? Do you realize that neither have you?

I have seen the reflection of my face on a mirror or on a photograph, but I’ve never seen my own face.

I think Frida noticed this after her accident, and manifested it on her pieces. I’ve always been interested on Frida’s own face on her art.

When I started the creation of Mr.O I tried doing something different, my plan was to draw legs and quotes on shoes, but I couldn’t do it. I ended up doodling pictures of Frida, and at the end, she became a muse for my shoes, which is why I have a wide variety of  “Frida’s” on my “Mighty Girls” collection. I like to think that she would’ve liked it, because she used to wear long skirts that always covered her shoes.

“I do not know if my paintings are Surrealist or not, but I do know that they are the most frank expression of myself.” – Frida Kahlo
